Toastmasters Meetings:

What Can You Expect?

Meeting Format. Our meetings always follow a planned agenda, which typically includes:

  • one to three prepared speeches (from Speaker’s Manuals that suggest the type of speech and topics, objectives to try to achieve and public speaking pointers)
  • followed by a Table Topics Session
  • speech evaluations
  • Club Business

Members sign up for duties, which range from giving a speech or evaluating a speech to telling the joke of the day or serving as the timer. You can start with short prepared speeches (Joke or Thought for the Day) as a way to build your confidence before giving speeches from the manual.

Table Topics involves asking someone to step forward and speak extemporaneously for one to two minutes on a predetermined topic. It’s also a great way to help us all achieve our individual goals of becoming better, more confident and capable speakers and individuals.

Immediate Feedback. The other important part of the Toastmasters program is to provide feedback to each speaker in the form of speech and meeting evaluations. More experienced speakers listen to your speech or presentations and give supportive and constructive comments that help us focus on what we do well and how we can improve our communications skills.

Browse through our Web site and contact any of our officers for additional information.

We believe you would enjoy and could gain a lot of valuable insights from regular involvement in our meetings.

Why not give us a try? We would love to have you attend one of our upcoming meetings.
