Toastmaster Meetings:

How Can We Help You Help Yourself?

  1. Practice giving prepared speeches by following the step-by-step guidelines of a manual designed to help the absolute beginner become a competent speaker.
  2. The manual takes you through 10 speeches, each emphasizing different aspects of speaking.
  3. Get positive, constructive feedback from other club members. They will tell you what you are doing that works and offer constructive opinions on ways you can improve.
  4. Practice giving 1-2 minute impromptu speeches on various topics almost every week.
  5. Learn to evaluate speeches given by other people by giving them your feedback.
  6. Occasionally, be the person who organizes the meeting, introduces the speakers and makes sure it runs smoothly. This kind of training is priceless in many areas of your life.
  7. Become more aware of your own grammar and learn to correct it as needed.
  8. Become a better listener. Have a good time. Our club is supportive of all its members. We are all working to achieve goals!
